Avita Health System Introduces Ohio's First RapidArc Dynamic Technology at New Cancer Center |
State-of-the-Art Facility in Ontario to Enhance Cancer Treatment Precision and Efficiency |
Avita Health System is set to revolutionize cancer care in Ohio with the introduction of the RapidArc Dynamic technology at its forthcoming comprehensive cancer center in Ontario.
This cutting-edge system, developed by Varian, is designed to significantly reduce radiation exposure to healthy tissues, potentially decreasing doses to organs at risk by up to 50%.
Such advancements are crucial in minimizing long-term side effects for patients.
In addition to enhanced precision, RapidArc Dynamic accelerates treatment planning and delivery.
It can expedite plan optimization and dose calculation by up to 70%, allowing for more efficient patient care.
Jerome Morasko, President/CEO of Avita Health System, emphasized the importance of this investment: "We added RapidArc Dynamic to reduce long-term side effects and to deliver cancer treatment more quickly and effectively."
He further noted, "All tissues have an amount of radiation that they can withstand, and the goal is to protect the good tissue from unnecessary radiation."
By integrating this technology, Avita demonstrates its commitment to patient safety and cutting-edge treatment options.
The new cancer center will also feature the Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy system, a state-of-the-art linear accelerator known for its precision and speed in cancer treatment.
Real-time imaging capabilities will ensure accurate tumor targeting during therapy sessions.
Additionally, the center will incorporate the IDENTIFY system, a surface-guided radiotherapy technology that enhances treatment accuracy by monitoring patient positioning with submillimeter precision.
This system includes an automatic beam hold feature that pauses treatment if the patient moves beyond defined thresholds, further ensuring safety and efficacy.
Morasko expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming facility: "We are excited to bring radiation therapy to Avita. We have added both the RapidArc Dynamic and the IDENTIFY system to ensure that our radiation treatment is the highest quality."
He added, "Cancer affects so many people in our communities, and we are not sparing any expense when it comes to providing lifesaving cancer treatment for our patients."
The comprehensive cancer center, located at 600 Richland Mall in Ontario, is slated to open in November 2025.
This facility aims to provide local access to advanced cancer treatments, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for care.
