Authorities Investigate Tragic Incident in Richland County |
Authorities have determined that no foul play is suspected in the death of a woman found at Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Heather Carpenter, a 61-year-old resident of Mansfield.
Carpenter was discovered in a ravine near a hiking trail on the evening of Friday, October 24.
Earlier that day, Carpenter had informed her husband of her plans to hike at Malabar Farm, a routine activity for her.
When she did not return home by nightfall, her husband contacted local authorities.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources conducted a joint investigation into the incident.
Carpenter’s body has been sent to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Officials anticipate that the autopsy report will be available in three to four weeks.
Malabar Farm State Park, located in Lucas, Ohio, is renowned for its historical significance and natural beauty.
The park honors Louis Bromfield, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and conservationist, whose legacy is preserved at his historic farm.
Visitors to the park can explore the farmhouse, enjoy scenic hiking trails, and participate in various educational programs.
In light of this tragic event, park officials remind visitors to exercise caution while hiking and to inform someone of their plans before venturing into the park.
They also extend their condolences to the Carpenter family during this difficult time. |
