New Trail Enhances Connectivity Between B&O Trail and Downtown Mansfield |
The city of Mansfield is on the verge of completing a 3,300-foot multi-use trail along Millsboro Road, stretching from Trimble Road to Marion Avenue.
This 10-foot-wide concrete path aims to provide a safe and scenic route for pedestrians and cyclists, effectively linking the B&O Trail closer to downtown Mansfield.
City Engineer Bob Bianchi reported to the Board of Control that the project is approximately 95% complete and is expected to be finished within the next month.
The construction, valued at around $750,000, has been fully funded through federal and state resources.
Notably, the project has utilized about 1,300 tons of concrete.
Finance Director Kelly Converse expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It’s beautiful and it went in so fast.”
Once completed, this trail will enable cyclists and walkers to travel safely from the B&O Trail to the Mansfield Art Center without the need to navigate road traffic.
Additionally, a 1.1-mile connector trail between the B&O Trail and Trimble Road is nearing completion, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for October 4.
Future plans include enhancing the sidewalk along Trimble Road and extending improvements along Marion Avenue into downtown, further promoting Mansfield’s commitment to accessible and safe multi-use pathways. |
