Driver escapes harm as vehicle plows through store's front doors |
On Tuesday afternoon, a car crashed into the front entrance of the Dollar Tree store in Shelby, Ohio.
Shelby Fire Department Captain Randy Washburn reported that the incident occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m.
Firefighters responded promptly and remained on the scene for about two hours.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the driver, store employees, or shoppers present at the time.
The vehicle, having jumped the curb, penetrated nearly 90 percent into the building through the glass double entry doors.
Firefighters had to cut the store's doors free to remove them from the vehicle.
After ensuring the building's stability, they also shut off power to the air blowers above the doors for safety during the vehicle's removal.
The Dollar Tree store, located at 11 Mansfield Ave., was closed immediately following the incident.
Store officials are coordinating with maintenance teams to secure and repair the damaged entrance.
The store will remain closed until the door and window system is fully repaired, as it is currently unstable.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. |
