Park National Bank Announces New Downtown Mansfield Office |
Bank to Construct Modern Facility on Municipal Parking Lot, Donates Historic Building to City |
Park National Bank has unveiled plans to construct a new office on the western half of the Municipal Parking lot in downtown Mansfield.
This strategic move involves transferring the bank's current eight-story building at 3 N. Main St. to the city, underscoring the bank's commitment to the community's growth.
On Tuesday evening, the City Council is set to vote on legislation that would allocate a portion of the parking lot at Fourth and Main streets to the Mansfield Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), which would then transfer it to Park National Bank.
In exchange, the bank will donate its existing office building, valued at $1.28 million, along with a $130,000 contribution to the CIC to bolster downtown economic revitalization efforts.
Chris Hiner, the bank's Mansfield regional president, emphasized that this initiative reinforces their "long-standing commitment to the community and its future."
The forthcoming location will accommodate approximately 25 bank associates and will serve as the primary downtown office upon completion.
Hiner highlighted that the donation supports Mansfield's ongoing downtown revitalization and ensures the property remains under local stewardship.
He further noted that by transferring ownership to the CIC, the bank ensures the property will be redeveloped in alignment with the city's vision for a vibrant downtown.
During the construction phase, Park National Bank will lease its current space, ensuring uninterrupted services for customers.
Hiner remarked, "This project is about more than bricks and mortar. It's about investing in Mansfield's future."
He added that the bank is proud to retain jobs downtown, contribute to economic development, and help preserve a property that can be redeveloped in a way that aligns with the best interests of the community.
Headquartered in Newark, Ohio, Park National Bank reported $9.9 billion in total assets as of June 30.
Founded in 1908, the bank operates offices and ATMs across Ohio, Kentucky, and the Carolinas.
Hiner mentioned that the development on the Municipal Parking lot will complement the ongoing Main Street improvement and beautification initiative, promising to be a catalyst for future development efforts.
The current municipal parking lot will remain fully available until construction begins in 2026.
The $130,000 contribution will support the development of additional parking in the Carrousel District, according to Mansfield Mayor Jodie Perry.
Mayor Perry expressed excitement about the new development, stating that Park National Bank has had a longstanding presence in Mansfield, and she is grateful for their additional investment in the community.
She added that by donating their current property to the CIC, the historic bank building can remain a cornerstone in the community for another century.
The new office will be designed to enhance customer and associate experiences, reflecting the bank's full-service model, including personal and business deposit accounts, commercial lending, mortgage services, and more.
Construction is expected to commence in the fall of 2026 and take approximately 18 months to complete.
The Main Street Corridor Improvement Project, which began earlier this year, is anticipated to be completed by October 2026.
Mayor Perry indicated that the CIC will explore redevelopment options for the current bank building, considering possibilities like residential or mixed-use developments.
She emphasized that the building offers a prime opportunity for redevelopment, with great views of the area, and the CIC has the flexibility to find the right developer.
Perry concluded that this opportunity ensures the key downtown building remains vibrant and active for another century. |
