Annual event showcases local artisans, delectable cuisine, and family-friendly activities |
Under the canopy of Butler's autumn woods, the Prairie Peddler Festival has once again captivated visitors with its unique blend of handcrafted goods and mouthwatering fare.
Spanning two weekends—September 27–28 and October 4–5—the festival has become a cherished tradition, drawing crowds eager to experience its rustic charm.
Festival co-founder Suzi Skoglund observed, "We had a lot of people last weekend." While exact attendance figures are pending, the turnout suggests a potential record-breaking year.
Located at 3170 State Route 97, the festival boasts over 220 craft vendors, with approximately 90% offering handmade items. From farmhouse-style décor to handcrafted jewelry and nostalgic wooden toys, the array of goods caters to diverse tastes.
Food enthusiasts are equally delighted, with nearly 30 vendors serving up comfort foods that have become a festival hallmark. As Skoglund noted, "A lot of men always say, 'I come for the food.'"
Children are not left out, enjoying activities like a petting zoo featuring miniature pigs, sheep, goats, and even a turtle.
Reflecting on the festival's growth, Skoglund shared, "We’ve expanded over the years, and in the past maybe five years, we’ve added a couple of sections." This expansion underscores the event's enduring appeal and its role as a family tradition.
As Skoglund warmly expressed, "One of the things we hear a lot is families that come say, 'We came when we were kids with our mom and dad, and now we’re bringing our families.' It warms my heart."
For those seeking a quintessential fall experience, the Prairie Peddler Festival continues to offer a delightful blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment in the heart of Butler. |
