Relax, It's Just Coffee: Brewing Community in Downtown Mansfield

A local café becomes a hub for connection and creativity

Paul and Tammy Kemerling transformed Mansfield's coffee scene by opening Relax, It's Just Coffee at 105 N. Main St.

Before their venture, the city lacked a lasting independent coffee shop.

Drawing from their passion for indie coffee culture, the Kemerlings envisioned more than just a café.

They aimed to create a space where students, professionals, artists, and neighbors could gather in an "all access atmosphere."

Today, Relax serves as a community hub, offering locally roasted coffee, tea, and house-made baked goods.

The café also showcases local art and hosts live entertainment, fostering a vibrant environment.

Paul's background in nonprofit leadership has been instrumental in building this inclusive space.

He emphasizes serving the entire community, from middle school students to seniors.

In August 2025, Relax partnered with Omni Fiber for a "Ship & Chat" event, offering free coffee and discussions about high-speed internet options.

Additionally, the café participated in the Back Lot Series, a summer event featuring local musicians in collaboration with neighboring businesses.

These initiatives highlight Relax's commitment to community engagement.

As autumn approaches, the café plans to introduce seasonal drink specials, reinforcing its role as a welcoming space for all.
